Carers Leave Bill becomes Carers Leave ACT!

On Wednesday, 24th May, following a long progress through parliament, the Carers Leave Bill gained Royal Assent, and has now become the Carer’s Leave Act 2023.

It’s a historic moment in the fight for carers’ rights.

It’s expected to be implemented from a date in 2024, when it will become officially ‘live’ and means employees across great Britain have a new right to take up to one week of unpaid Carer’s Leave.

Thank you to Wendy Chamberlain MP who brought it forward, and Lord Fox for his support through the Lords – and to all those carers who made their voices heard as the bill progressed.
